Digital Twins for School Safety

Digital Twin Imaging (DTI) creates precise 3D and 4D digital twins of K-12 schools. Administrators, first responders and 911 dispatchers get an accurate, live view of a building before and during an emergency.

DTI is based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and serves schools nationwide. We have scanned more than 200 buildings, including 100 K-12 schools, and trained more than 500 first responders.

What is a school digital twin?

A digital twin is an exact virtual replica of a building, captured with LiDAR laser scanning. Every hallway, classroom, door, stairwell and exit is measured to within millimeters, so responders can navigate it as if they were standing inside.

DTI’s twins are 4D: the model connects to live data, including real-time CCTV camera feeds placed in their actual locations and live facilities information. Responders don’t just see a floor plan. They see what’s happening in the building now.

Why schools use digital twins

A digital twin gives everyone who protects your school the same accurate picture of the building, before and during an emergency.

Faster, safer response

Officers and firefighters learn the building’s layout before they arrive, instead of searching for rooms under pressure.

Live situational awareness

Camera feeds mapped to the 3D model show responders where a threat is and where people are sheltering.

Better training

Teams rehearse response plans in the virtual building without disrupting classes.

Accurate 911 location data

DTI produces indoor maps that support Next Generation 911, helping dispatchers pinpoint callers inside large buildings.

Everyday facilities value

The same model supports maintenance, space planning and capital projects, so it works year-round.

Easy to purchase

Available on GSA Multiple Award Schedule 47QRAA25D008M, simplifying procurement for public schools and agencies.

How it works

Scan

Our certified technicians capture the building with LiDAR and drone imaging, with no disruption to classes.

Build

We process the data into a precise, navigable digital twin.

Connect

We integrate live sources such as your existing camera system.

Share

Authorized administrators, law enforcement, fire and 911 can access the model securely.
